screw in the right rear tire.... rear tires are at the limit, and the other tires are very old. even though there's (a ton of) tread left on the front, it would make sense to replace all to be safe. esp since im going to be pushing them

michelin pilot sport cup. dot approved competition tire.
but im told they wont do well on the street. so im looking for a different tire. problem is in the 16" wheel size, they dont really have much of a proper selection.
now if i got the oem 17s on the other hand...
then again, thankfully the stock s-02s are really good tires...
im just addicted to grip :(

yeah pilot sports are nice :) but these are their race tires. their car tires might be a little different than the bike tires. looking at the bike catalog, I think the equivalent would be like Michelin "power race" (just browsing their site - im no expert on bike tires)
i agree pilot sports are very great tires though

placed my order on monday. i did not buy the pilot sport cups.
Im thinking that heat cycling will be a problem. R compound tires only work well "at temperature". im not sure i can get them up to temp and keep them to temp on the street. well correction i think i can  but even then the tires are only going to provide maximum traction for a few heat cycles (=a few drives). I'm OK with the tires lasting 5k mi. im ok sacrificing wet grip. but as far as i can see, it doesn't look like the cups could work well on the street, even under aggressive driving... they might last for 5k mi, but might only grip well for a few hundred miles of that. not worth it to me.
I've learned Bridgestone makes a really good tire too, the RE01R. It offers better dry grip than the Bridgestone RE050A tire which is their competitor to the Michelin PS2, so it's a top tier tire. It's not really comparable though because the RE01R doesnt offer much wet grip. it sacrifices the wet grip of the RE050A/PS2 for dry. But that's OK with me- I have special plans for wet conditions :)
So far , there inst any tire that I can run that offers more grip than the RE01R. At least, thats what I'm reading and am told is true.
having said that I've never driven on them so I don't know what theyll really be like.... but hard to imagine i'll be disappointed. we'll see :fingersx:
