what are you all thinking? anyone going? last time was a mess, almost no one showed up. the wed nights are all but done for - gates locked last night and i assume that's the end of that although I still haven't heard anything official on why... and now the cdra is advertising saturday races. so, what do you all think?

We plan to be there with the Dukes and the Land Rover. It might not be perfect but at least it is racing. The last time due to the low turnout it was good from my point of view as I managed to get in 7 runs which was very helpful in terms of getting used to the new rear gear ratio (from 3.73 in the blown up rear to 4.3 in the new Strange 60). The track surface was poor but improved through the night. That was also a good lesson in learning how to get the car going when things are less than ideal, filed under the learning to be a better driver and adapt to changing conditions category. The power going out was also another lesson as during that time not only did the car cool down but the air cooled down and the car run .2 faster in the 8th. As I red lit anyway the breakout did not matter but it was an eye opener. Weather hopefully will hold.
I do wish the Wednesday night races had not died so quickly, I think it is a great idea. We missed the one time as we were off island.
This Saturday is on the CDRA schedule, I have not heard the ad. Originally there were races scheduled for Friday and Saturday. That would have been great but with a low turnout last time that might be the reason they cut back to one night, although I do not know if that is the case. Remember the big turnout Ag Fair Weekend? That was a blast (even if I did have to buy a new rear axle assembly)
Hector, who runs the lights, several months ago was thinking of trying to set up an Import shootout, broken up into indexes. I do not know what happened to that, but from the talk on here it sounds as if there would be some interest. Show up this Saturday, talk to him, bring a plan, get a commitment from people to show up, figure out a schedule that works with the CDRA schedule. Run your car in whatever class you fit, street or pro, try the brackets, see if you can really drive your car to what you dial. I know it is only to the 8th, I much prefer the quarter, I don't even get it into 4th in the 8th even with the new gears. Still, the start is the same, the time slip will give you info about how your car is launching and how you are driving with the RT, 60 foot and 660 time and speed.

You have alot of great idea's but WE gotta bring pen to paper B4 anything gets resolved..... It got so many cars here that scared to race .. You gotta lose sometimes. I use to race my DD civic auto doing 18.1 sec in the 1/4 mile .. I wasn't the fastest but at the end of the event I was the winner.. lol.... Everybody can't be fast THATS WHY THERE IS BRACKET RACING...An as for the track there is NO insentive for the racers to benefit from winning like throphy or money etc... At the end of a event...
We just need to pull 2gether an hold an event... In the near future I will be holding an event..... Just trying to get some more RX7 on the road.. then I will hold the event... Mark my word .. once the track is in operation...
The track has been going down hill for a while now and i think it has totally hit rock bottom. I don't see my self paying the same price to race half a track. It kinda gets me up set that i have done a lot of things to my car and have to go somewhere else to test it. Just my 2 cents :dunno: :dunno:

Absolutely right about bracket racing, there is always someone faster. Your Civic is an excellent example, just like Michelle's Land Rover. There is no reason to be afraid to race. After all, half the cars will lose first round. I know this from personal experience.
However, it is not true that there is no incentive for the racers. There is a payout after every weekend. It is 60% to the winner, 40% to runner up of the total of the entry fees in your class for each weekend. Let's say you have four cars in street class at $25 each entry fee. This adds up to $100, winner gets $60, runner up gets $40, you pick up the check at Bates trucking later that week. Michelle has won money twice. The more cars enter, the higher the payout. It is $20 to test and tune, and $25 to run in street class. Why not spend the extra $5 and go for it. You might win. You get 8 cars in street that is $120 for winner that night. Given how much junk we have in our space right now (just moved the contents of a storage space up in the states down to here) I would much rather have the cash rather than a trophy (one more bloody thing to deal with:rofl:).
Keep us posted on the rotary event. Are you thinking of piston vs rotary?
Anyway, back to installing the long overdue temperature gauge. Hope to see people tomorrow.

Yup, made one run, parked, got out of the Road Runner, the rain started.
Supposed to have gates open at 2, time trials start at 3, races at 5.
