For the most part, a shifter is just meant to give you the ability to run through the gear box efficiently and effectively. But dread, that don't mean you can't look good while you do it.<!--more-->
The idea here is straight forward. On top of the shift knob is an LCD that once programmed, it will tell you the number of the engaged gear. Apparently, this device is from a German company, "Gaslock" which means the directions are hard to follow.

That said, TMTuning, a firm specializing in VW and Audi, says "the installation is straightforward.The LCD has an auto-dimming feature and is available in blue or red for $169.00. For that price, it might be a nice interior addition.
