One of the many new features we have are friends lists.
This works just like it might on myspace or another site
Today I'll go over the two most common ways to add someone as a friend:
**SHORT WAY**
1. Click on someone's username. You will be taken to their profile.
2. From there click on the "Befriend..." Link

3. Be sure the box "Also send a friend request" is checked and click on "Yes"

**LONG WAY**
1.
go to your profile by clicking on UserCP on the nav bar.
(btw - that stands for User Control Panel)

click on "contacts and friends"

3.
type the name of the contact. while you're typing, the form should bring a box to help you if you can't remember the user's exact name. alternatively, if you can't remember the name you can refer to the member's list.

4.
when you hit 'add contact', a box will be created among your contacts. they're not your friend yet. to make them your friend, check the friend box below that.

click save changes.
ON THEIR END
After that, the user will get prompted to add you as a friend. It will look like this when they log in:

When they click on it, this will drop down:

When they click on that, they will get to this:

and when they accept, friends have been made. (they'll need to have the box checked by your name)
Note that when a friend is online you will see a + next to their name on the 'who's online' screen:
