Matte black has been around for a long time. Here is the 55 Chevy from 2 Lane Blacktop (1971 movie). It is debatable if it is a great movie or a terrible movie but it is worth watching at least the opening to see Big Willie Robinson's 69 Dodge Charger Daytona.

no, all real...instead of gloss black, they're just matte black.

Unfortunately, it crashed HARD at the ORSCA finals in Huntsville Alabama about a month ago. The owner thinks something broke in the front end. It happened just at the finish line (1/8th mile race). Owner thankfully walked away from a probably 120+ mph crash:eek:

yeah you see alot of retro hot rods with it..dropped to the ground with flint blocks scrapping and sparking as they drive along.....GUM BALL race's are the sh!t...but if you've ever seen them after...most exotics look like crap afterwards ...so I don't see myself really making my car look good for a GUM BALL....that silvia was looking hella sweet though. No there not photo shopped...its a type of paint that looks like a primer or more like a wet sand finish too it. yet looks pretty sweet and simple. That and they protect the metal like you will not beleive when it comes to the elements.

I don't know anything about the specs but I think it is a clone (they only made ~ 500 originally in 1969)

might not be a clone.. I noticed alot of hot rods in the north west withe matte black and white side wall tires when I was in Indiana one of many homes of NASCAR so I wouldn't doubt it being a daytona..well they only made one model year with that wing but you get the picture.

Yeah Street, we've been back for a couple of weeks. Had friends from the states down and now the UVI semester started so Michelle is busy teaching as usual.

We have the go part down pretty well, the show bit is lacking:rofl:. Added some clamps to the forward section of the rear leafs, we'll see if that helps with the launch. Cheap experiment.

Vizuki, I think that I read on a Mopar board that the owner said it was a clone he built out of a regular 69 Charger but I don't know for sure. Clone or original it looks good.:bowdown:

That crashed 69 RR I posted has been reborn, although no longer matte black. Appropriately enough it is a fire orange, sort of like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes. Someone did some nice work on those quarter panels:

Apparently it is street legal and will be street driven. It belongs to a guy from Bermuda so there is an islands connection. i don't think the car lives on Bermuda. I like the subtle flames on the fenders.
