ok boys and girls, we've had major arguments bout this in the past:mad: , but we would like to know what u think:rofl: . Do real racers drive a car with three pedals or two:dunno: , does driving a manual car make u more skilled and talented than a person who races an automatic car?:dunno: what do u think?:dunno:

depends on the car :shiftdrive:

well if you can't drive stick you won't be able to race a stick car, only auto.... whereas someone who can drive stick could race either way and also probably be pretty good with a sequential tranny.
i get where you're going though...
imo all enthusiasts should be competent driving stick -or working on it. at the minimum it will make them better drivers... but either way, how can you be a car enthusiast and exclude all manual cars....??
and when i say competent, i dont mean 'able to drive' i mean heal toe (not the dance) competent. i mean 'able to teach the wifey how to do it' competent. jmho though...

It depends on the type of racing you doing. If you are drag racing good auto tranny set up can do wonders for your 1/4 mile time but mainly the consistency is where an auto tranny will shine in a drag race. Not to that you can't be consistent in a manual. It's just one less factor to maintain when you are trying to go fast down the strip, wondering if you shifted at the right time. An auto setup in drag racing just about eliminates that issue. Now if you bring heel-toe left braking engine braking etc... You bring whole new concept of trying to go fast around corners and not a straight line. Though have a sequential tranny is nice for road racing .Whole new set of skills need to be focus on vs drag racing.
Anyway that is my 2 cents on the matter !

but still, does'nt drivng a stick shift show u and other what ur really capable of doing even if it's drag or any other kind of driving or racing, does'nt auto bore u people, or make u want to fall asleep, i know i've had that problem in the past, falling asleep at the wheel, i've also drivien a auto car at the strip and really and truly it sucks ass

try driving a manual sub 8 second drag car..... for those of you who have driven sub 11 sec cars know that 1-3th comes very fast, 3rd to 4th you can relax a little.
In my opinion i believe it depends on your setup. Plus auto's are excellent for bracket racing. I know, i drove a stando-matic for years....
