Big news for the Toyota/Lexus camp today. Holiday Auto, one of Japan's major car magazines (who accurately reported on the GT-R prior to its release), is reporting that the new Lexus LF-A (pictured above) has achieved a Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7 minutes and 24 seconds. While the news has yet to be confirmed, the rumor -if true- would pin Toyota's supercar on top of all other street cars to ever hit the ring, by a wide margin. Although the mainstream media is not yet reporting on this, StreetSeen will keep you updated on this story as it unfolds.

Please keep us in the loop- no pun intended. That said, I am all for the lap times especially on the Ring, but from this car I want and expect A LOT more. So I look forward as all details become available.

well its definitely going to be in the exotic class. composite construction and rotors. v10 revving out past 8k with what looks like a titanium exhaust. plus those proportions. and it'll have an exotic pricetag of about $150k

thing is, it will be built to drive daily

if rumored allocations are true the real price may be much higher

which means its definitely competing with the 430/Scuderia and the Gallardo

so it will probably outperform them. which is not hard. but really, do you buy a Scuderia or Gallardo for their Ring time? No. You buy them for the experience.

And that's the rub. From all counts my understanding on the Scuderia is that it delivers a very raw performance experience. In videos you can see the shift actuation is seemingly as violent as firing a gun. Reports indicate the steering is flawlessly transparent. And then there's the eDiff.

But I don't see these qualities being consistent with Lexus philosophy. Which is fine, you wouldn't want everyone building another Scuderia. Only one company can do that right. So then Lexus must be bringing something else to the table. But what will they offer?

I have no doubt that all will sell because, well, if you make few enough of anything you'll sell them all. And I'm sure it'll get at least decent reviews.

But will it be epic? I don't know. Will that matter? Sadly, I doubt that it will.
