The new Corolla will be available in five trims: base, S, XE, XLE, XRS.
The first three are powered by an all new 1.8L dual VVTi 4 cilynder engine producing 132hp @ 6,000rpm and 128lb-ft torque @ 4,400rpm. The latter two are powered by a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine producing 158hp @ 162lb-ft of torque @ 4,000rpm. Although most models come with a four speed automatic, five speed manual and five speed automatic transmissions are available. Fuel efficiency wise, the 1.8L models get 27/35mpg while the 2.4L models are claimed to get 22/30mpg.
Safety equipment is extensive, including standard ABS across models as well as optional traction control and stability control. The S cars are fitted with 16" wheels wrapped with P205/55 tires while the XRS grade cars are fitted with 17" wheels mounted with P215/45/R17 tires.
Entertainment wise, the cars feature your usual stereo system with the addition of MP3/WMA capability and optional navigation system with Bluetooth support.
Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but look out for the new Corollas in February 2008.
