Speaking of the new GT-R and racing...

One thing I took away from talking with Nissan execs and reps in Japan was that the new GT-R is a platform for them to work on. You might be impressed by the performance figures they're talking about, but that's for the base car. They're already slated to begin testing a special edition of the car over the next couple weeks in Germany. Call it V-Spec if you will, it's allegedly lighter, higher tuned, faster blah blah blah. It's basically here to kick ass and take names. Over time I've been told that there will be many variants of the car, possibly as many as one special edition every year. This means that the new GT-R -although fast and respectable- is just a base starting point. This has always been true of course, but it's easily forgotten when you think about all the technology going into the new car, and all the talk about how difficult it will be to modify.
