**note this was the day that the storm was coming....we were one of the last flights to make it off island. :noes:**

surprinsgly though, the flight was fairly smooth, and the weather was decent when we got there although it was windy.

Did you know: Mercedes makes an AMG version of this, called the R63. It puts out 510hp and seats six!

Overall it was pretty nice. It looked and felt like an upgrade to the current highlander, but nothing extraordinarily special per se. Looking at the Rav4 sport for instance, that looks pretty cool. This...less so. I'm sure it's a very competent people carrier and can take a lot of luggage/cargo though. It's certainly larger than the last highlander. I also wouldn't be surprised if its pretty quiet and refined on the road...it looks like it would be, although I haven't been in it to confirm. Overall it was pretty cool of Toyota to put it out like that. BTW although this one didn't have it, these SUVs can be optioned with rear view cameras.

Day 2

Second day was actually a mess. Tons of rain. Sun didn't come out until late in the day. Anyway, at the mall again, I spotted this:

FMIC I spy?

And on the way out, I saw this:

TL Type-S

Later on we got lost and stopped at a gas station to get directions. They had a limo there:

And later that night I saw this:

At this point I started to think most of the nicer cars were locked away for the weekend...and with the weather, they probably should have been

Day 3.

We stayed at the Normandie. I wrote a long review for another website. But the short of it is that the rooms were nice, but didn't feel spotless. Internet was flaky. Price was pretty good.. but the hotel was away from most everything in the Condado area. Which means unless you're driving you've got to take a taxi. On day one that wasnt a problem because the entire first floor of the hotel (its like a courtyard) was turned into a huge party sponsored by redbull. If you wanted a quiet get-away that wasn't going to happen on that night. But after that it got quiet but again, you would have to go elsewhere to find things to do.

The normandie:

behind the hotel:

more random cars:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4708.jpg

we also saw this in a parking garage:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4705.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4706.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4707.jpg

and now our rentee. the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4701.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4702.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4703.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4676.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4659.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4660.jpg

I thought it was a pretty decent car. We had the absolute base model with an automatic transmission. Even from the passenger seat you can tell that the car was built to be more fun to drive than its predecessor. It's pretty rigid...you can really feel road impacts. But that's probably the cost of making the car fun to drive if you can't make it much lighter. On the negative side I felt that the entire interior was pretty hard (materials wise) although it looked OK. On the outside, I thought it looked far better than anything in class, especially in this color:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t193/streetseen/Misc/PuertoRico20070817/IMG_4677.jpg

BUT again, that external look comes at a high price in the interior. Overall, the Civic remains the favorite in class to me. The Sentra would be my favorite but I just can't get past it's looks. From what I've seen with this car, I think the new Evo will look VERY good. I really like how the Lancer looks in person.
