IHello from Alabama, I'm new to the forum. I'm 43 and have been into racing, building, and tuning cars for over 20 years. Me and the wife lived on St Thomas for a bit back in 08. We are trying to work it out so we can move back to the vi for good.

I drive a 02 wrx bugeye with all forged bottom 2.5ltr and ported and cammed 2.0 heads. I run a ppg 5 speed and full bc suspension. I run a perrin fmic and a 35r rotated kit. I'm a member of a local club The Birmingham Drunken Subaru Modders, and I'm also an active member on the romraider forum. I do a lot of local tuning and also remote tunes for subaru's.

I'm in the process of switching over to E85. I will be hoping for big gains when I start tuning on the E85. I was on maf but started running a group n rom from the jdm rally car and it is speed density. The car is 100% a better driving car around town on speed density.

Are there any performance shops on st cx or dyno's. Maybe in the future I can get a chance to meet most of you. I will be on island in september but most of my time will be on St Thomas. I hate that cause St Thomas has like 0 street scene for the most part.

the surface quality in kmart parking lot isnt that great.. for either kmarts.
also there are light poles...

as far as tuning.. some people do highway or container port im sure. but the quality of roads here on stx are improving, slowly... south shore and north shore are both fairly nice

light poles are just like really big immovable cones;) no problem.... what about plaza west parking lot? and yeah we do our tuning in south shore. the only place with straight stretches of smooth road long enough. but you gotta watch out for dear. oh yeah tekk i had to start on my suspension upgrades a little sooner than planned.... drivers side front sway bar mount was very very bent. looks like i hit something. bent the end link too. ordered new reinforced sway bar mount, sway bars and end links. then off to align....

plaza west is ok but there are still poles and the ground isnt level.
the parking lot by the stadium west is best of all but kinda small

good luck on the suspension stuff.. hit me up if anything :bigthumb:

w00t +1 for doing a hybrid into a 02 wrx...

Yea the hybrid is a biaatch to tune on pump gas cause the compression is a little higher. Kinda limits you on boost and hp on pump fuel but the extra tq is nice just cruisin round. I want a set of the big port jdm heads but the cheapest set I found was $1500 and still needed worked, OUCH!!

I picked up a set of precision 1200cc injectors the other day for my E85 switch. Now I just need to pick up a low impedance driver and a bosch 044 to run inline with the walbro 255. Then I will be rolling round on the skreet on 30 psi:turbobowdown:. I shouldnt be limited with the octane of E85. Are ther any E85 pumps on de isl?

The ppg gears suck ass driving through town, Can you say LOUD? Its twice as loud as an early 90's civic in reverse backing up a hill LOL.
They are nice in the 1/4 cause they are taller gear ratio than stock.

®åfìê

^^^ no stations w/race gas, highest is 93 octance, but we do have people selling them, 100, 103, 108, c12, c16, q16 all on island selling, no dynos as yet buh u kno we tune on highway or south shore or any empty stretch, just hold on, nice car btw

Yea i kinda figured that, but y not a 6sp? Then again u have to change rear diff.. etc..

but then again u went through like 4?

I wish that I had gone the 6 speed route but its just water under the bridge now. My wife would prol shoot me if I went out and dropped a few k on a 6 speed swap, That after I already dropped that much on the gearset and machine work on the cases to have the set installed. Yea buddy, That would go over well :dunno:.

If I bust another diff I think Im gonna see about an after market set of diff gears. But when you can get 160r diffs at a junk yard for less than a $100 bucks its hard to drop the cash for an after market set and still dont know if they would hold.

I would like to do a sti diff but the axles that fit sti diff and wrx knuckles are pricey. Cheaper to just change parts as they break which really isnt that often. When I go to the track I just fill the tires with a few extra psi of air. That has helped with diff breaks but it doesnt help my 60' any.

BTW if thats ur car in your avatar I like. A guy here in Birmingham has one that is blue and pushes about 600 to the wheels. His screen name on the supra forum he hangs on is suprahero. Dont know if you frequent any of the supra forums or not. I think he moderates one of them.

amen to that..... we are definately about to start restocking ourselves. and dont feel bad blue, i have spit out a few diffs and transmissions myself. and yeah it is cheaper and easier to just put back in a stock one when you look at a the cheapest gearset is over 2500. and a good diff with ring and pinion will set you back 2000. but sadly enough i think im gonna have to go that route sooner than later.

I went with sti crank, eagle rods and cp pistons and all where cryo treated. I wanted it to be as strong as my funds would allow. If I could do mine over I would not have done the 2.0 heads. They do not flow the same as the 2.5 heads. Whoever thinks so is mistaken, at least mine don't and they have some port work done.
A closed deck 2.2 would be the shizzle but hard to come by.

I have used cobb street tuner a bunch and the live tuning is nice but the software is limited in the stuff you have access to and some of the tables are mis labled wich could lead you to a mistake while tuning. For instance you didn't have access to the idle tables, and on the early sti rom they had 3 ignition advance maps when there are only 2. The 3rd was just an addative table for instances of no knock detection. If you set that table up like the others then you could have easily ran to much timing if for some reason the ecu used the addative. There where some other stuff but I won't go into detail about them.

The new access tuner software is a little better but still lacking in some things like using the ecu raw value for injector scaler and things like that. Not a big deal if you are experienced but makes it tougher for noobs.

Open source is good and really has more access than cobb except for live tuning, but that's about it afaic. With open source you can have launch control (which cobb is trying to copy) and other helpful tools to help you tune.

If any of you guys need advice or help on anything just ask and if I'm able I will see what I can do.

Yea I like the tails. They are wired like the jdm so the round light is the only light burning while driving. The other is for brake light. Just backwards from the way a usdm is wired.

Surprisingly the center diff has held up really great, and the case has a support bolted to both sides and has been strong and same for the wrx axles.

6 spd tranny isn't bullet proof though...id rather spend the same money send off my 5 spd tranny have it cryo'd and beat the crap out of it..but then the next weak link will break probably if not axles and diff which is strange already..diffs should have broken first then drive shafts and or transfercase

you dont have to worry about breaking anything anyway:rofl:

What are you lauching at.... lol plenty of "supra" 6 speeds have broken..so that comment is...well:confused: the rear diff is usually the last to go on a subby before axles so if he's break diffs and not shearing 2nd gear then that tranny is damn well great....

I busted 2nd gear originaly on the stock gear set. The ppg gear set I have now is rated for +600 ft/lbs of tq, so I doubt ill be breaking them anytime soon.

On a side note, I wonder if a 2jz swap has ever been done on a subie?

Well enough about my ride. You guys start posting picks and info on your own rides. Or else this thread is def useless...... and one more thing, who's the guy on here tearing around the docks in shipped cars? I'm gonna leave you a half tank of high octane with the boost controler set on 30psi. Bet you crap your pants LOL.

First off, nice ride.
Better that you disable the car and force them to push it around. Definately worth the extra money.
The idiots down at the dock suffer from a desease that can't be cured. I don't think scientists have found a cure for stupidity. That's why your plan may backfire and your car end up in the sea.
Welcome to the Seen, and to the Virgin Islands. Hang on tight. :lmfao:

Yea, so I hear. Guess I will just set my rev limit at 2000 rpm and yank my shit off.

Anybody know anything about the oil refinery there? My 9 to 5 is ultrasonic testing on pipe welds so I would probably look there for a job. The wife is a RN so she lived and worked on st thomas and the hospital so she has good prospects there. What other job oportunity's are on the island besides selling t shirts to tourist?

Also is wapa as high there as on st thomas? That power bill was a bitch every month. I think I paid for all the time I was without power. LOL

To be honest I'd abhor myself if I ever put a 2jz on a great balanced platform. Rotari maybe. As for the engine bay. TC have u ever seen a subby engine bay. Maybe not the GC's or L bodies but they gave one of the biggest engine bays around. An impreza is mostly front end. It's a sedan but a small sedan. A 2jz will fit and the body is made Already for a striaght mount tranny, not sideways like an EVO.

The guys over at tech works engineering do great stuff for Subby's anything u can think of other than axles. And prices are pretty damn good for rebuilt equipment and new. My heads and block will be coming from them. Once the SC gets fitted in.

Lol ass ur not sorry. But no for real the engine bay is pretty large. Upgrade suspension and that 2jz would fit nice with space too spare.
