Yea so im lookin to eventually pick up where pops left off, and im lookin for some advice on what bike/bikes would be good first timer candidates. Im currently lookin at a Yamaha FZ6R. I chose this one because i doesnt sound like a scooter, i have the option to put on a seat cowl to give it a one-seater look, and it has a real bike feel. Any input is welcome.

i've always been a Suzuki man. I do it mainly for the comfort. I am not tall and Suzuki bikes fit me very well. When I sit on Yamaha bikes, they feel VERY narrow to me and a little tall in my sense.

Either way, when you get a sport bike, all of them are VERY capeable and all of them will kill you just as fast and easily. Remember.

Very good choice in my opinion still the same R6 platform fuel injection but tuned down a bit..thing I don't like is there is almost three different R6 models to choose from which is weird..if your just learning I'd opt for the standard 6 which is same platform but a bit tuned down on fuel injection and mapping. Still one of my favorite bikes though next to a gixxer yet better than a kawi...good choice have fun and keep those clutch wheelies to a slim lol!!!

have you ridden before? very little riding experience. i took a basic riders course(its mandatory in florida if you wanna be a licensed rider) and i intend to take some advanced riders courses before i make my actual purchase.

well i plan on jumpin on the gixxer band wagon after i get into the "intermediate" level of riding, but i think the FZ6R would suit me till then.

i thought about that one for a good while, but im trying to avoid buyin two beginner bikes. i figured id be able to go from the FZ6R to either a 600rr or a gixxer 750. i plan on having the FZ6R for quite a while.

yea i hear you. ive had a casual interest before and am just sharing some of the things ive read. among them that the fz6r is not a beginner's bike. ive heard the suggestion that you can learn on a 250 for a while, not sweat it if it gets beat up a little.. and then sell used for close to what you got it for. so the overall cost should be low and you still get a lot of machine.

but again im no rider at all. and there are many here who do, so ill add that disclaimer and suggest you check with the riders, whatever you decide. good luck!

was is very little my 1st was a honda 250 but it had cams bore kit and port and polish head and i learn on that busted my ass my 2nd day on it but the most important thing to me is having respect for the bike it could be a 50cc or 1400cc have respect and disapline and you will be fine

no don't get a 250 you'll out grow it fast and the riding course you'll be on a 250..personally they are more dangerous than fun on highways keeping up in traffic..second if this is your first bike get a used ninja 500 or gs500..that way when u drop it you don't feel to bad in the pockets..and u will drop ur bike..either a not fully ingaged kickstand or slippery surface at the gas station..just take your time and progress simple as that...personally 500cc bikes are loads of fun and if they still made 2 stroke these days they'd be beating 600's 750's hands down with technology of today and moto gp racing 2 strokes. Just have fun with it and take your time.
