They've had enough of the G35. Hyundai has announced that they'll be targeting the G with their upcoming RWD coupe- which has already been spotted in transit to testing:

Rumors say that the car will come with either a V6 producing about 300hp or an optional V8 producing in excess of 300hp.

Judigng by how they've handled the Tiburon, they may be on to something- especially if they turn to Pininfarina (who mainly designs for Ferrari) to design the car, as they did with the Tiburon.

Look for the car to debut as early as late this year as a 2008 model. Also, don't be surprised if you see a luxury sport sedan from Hyundai as well.

As a side note, I take this seriously. While I think it'll be a number of years before they go toe to toe with BMW, I don't think it will amount to very many car generations. Which is significant when you consider how many generations it took for Japan to compete.

Also, from what I've seen, the Koreans are at least as much (if not more so) on the cutting edge with applications consumer technologies vs the Japanese...

Hmm I agree in part. They are definitely progressing at an alarming rate so the American cats really have to worry. But the Japanese invented Six Sigma and continuous improvement. I think they see these cats and are about to break out the warp drive technology they have been sitting on.

good point- the american companies should be very scared.
i know id rather drive this than a mustang... and i have no qualms about saying that. as crazy as it sounds- i expect it to be a superior car. same goes for their upcoming luxury sports sedan- i would expect it to match/exceed what the US offers

Yup- By the time Ford decides on the "correct," "market friendly" salary to pay their under performing CEOs and Chrysler gets done begging the union man dem to play nice, The Koreans, Japanese and Germans would have fought the war and declared a victor. Leaving them man to discuss what happened.
