Okay call it dumb luck but this summer I met this guy in front Quizenos we proceed to talk about drifting etc.. He so happened grew up or lived in japan for while. He then began to describe the drift scene in japan and the differences in parts and the amount that we pay for parts over here in the states . Any way he told me he had a bunch of parts that he brought over from japan with him. So we exchanged numbers and that was that..
Well about a week later he called me up telling me is selling all his parts.
Hence which leads us to the photos you see here!

is that a red or just painted or a black top with a red top paint job...friend of mine here on st.croix is getting his pig nose(s13) ready for installation of his SR20DET black top and tranny into his ride..should be very impressive when done...any extra parts you got for sale would be great actually.

actually there is a difference bruds..the black top makes more power and the cam lobe degree's are different..that and what you stated intake or more over throttle body housing size....plus whats up your azz anyways bruds yo ras going on with the most fuck..cool out deman wha deh fuck man!!!
They are about the same redtops will be cheaper for the most part. S14 blacktops have a better turbo, have better head parts, and a few others. The only down side for the blacktop is its variable valve timing. Pretty much the bigger the cams and higher power you put out the more it will jack up. A few of my friends cancelled it out by putting an S13s intake cam gear on. Hope this helps.
__________________I would run the redtop just so I wouldn't have to deal with the variable valve timing.

The main differences between this motor and the S13 SR20's are:

* Larger T28 turbocharger
* VCT on the inlet cam
* Revised intake design (high mount plenum chamber).
* Different loom and ECU design (not interchangeable with earlier models)
* Different oil filter thread (ryco filter Z445 vs S13 filter which is a Z442).

so in a sense you are right there is a black and red top but in this case the SR20DET black top is the notch top which cas a slope in the vlave cover which have different specs on the cams and timing retarding....this is the one that our bwoy has which comes from the s14-s15

Yeah there is alot more parts FMIC, 4core radiator, trannys , closer gear ratio tranny sr harness etc.etc.. Once I get all of the parts I will make list of stuff that I am willing to sell. Alaska is pretty close to japan in some aspect. I have been trying to go japan since I got here but finances and time seem to be always an issue. Now with the influx of all these parts I will probably abandon the whole 1jze swap in my white 240sx and swap the redtop in that car..

Well since your friend is doing sr swap in his pig nose s13. Does that mean the drift scene is finally hitting v.i., because Puerto Rico has already embraced it and moving at fast pace with the drift scene. I know V.I is not quick to move on change and drag racing has been good mainstay. But maybe it's time to start something new :). Drifting does not require a lot of hp. S13 with 2way LSD IS all that is required. Now space is another factor on in the V.I .. May I suggest and event called Gymkhana. Notice the location is just a parking lot and that s14 was mainly in 1st gear. Gymkhana has all the basics needed for drifting.

Now this video is just sweet LOOK at the angle he got when he came around the corner. Again notice a three turn switch back corners are all that is needed.

More About Gymkhana.. Notice the AE86/85 don't have a lot of hp!!

damn VIZuki it so easy to get a rise out of you, u know I just like messing with you. I never have been much into nissan. I love a datsun but I can't say nissan ever impressed me. I love a skyline and the silvia for that matter but I don't know too much about their motors. I just figured I could get a rise out of you which I guess I was right. you know its all love. whatever you are into. I just like messing with you. but it looks like you are being called out. if a race does go down lemme know.

Man you suck Mr. T..yeah drifting could start off but I can say this..it would be illegal just as street racing if it was ever done...on the roads would be fun but it would have to be clean smooth leveled sections which we have barely non of so finding the spot would be tricky..and yes its a pignose S13 he's got two body shells one with the SR20 install..the other with your typical nissan truck motor KA24..which I'm trying to get hime to rebuild and turn into a drag car. For those of you who don't know The truck motor KA24 is even better for drag than the SR20 and for those of you keeping up with tuner mags they've build one pushing 800+. Reason being SR20 has a higher Rev better for drifting and course racing than the typical KA24 truck motor but the low down torque curve of that motor is great for drag.

Parking lot with cones, or hell even use the light poles as barriers. Makes a small drift/autocross track!

Though ka24d is a decent motor the sr20det has more after market parts available, hence making it much easier build. Stroker kit on the sr will net more low end torque. The sr actually have issues will rocker arm float at high rpms.
That why rocker arm stoppers are a must on sr engines. Hydraulic lifters on the sr are the reason for the rocker arm float. Once you install rocker arm stoppers it will rev higher than the ka24 like you stated and safer too. Now the ca18det which is the predecessor the sr20 revs higher from stock due to the fact doesn't use any hydraulic lifters but you loose some displacement, but it also the cheapest motor to get but the after market support of this motor is not the greatest. Ca18det does share a lot of oem parts with the U.S. spec nissan pulsar. The kA24 has a lot after market parts and motor can make loads of power. There wasn't a lot after market parts for it when drifting first came to the states but has since become a favorite motor to modify on the on the U.S. drift scene, but sr20det are by far the most popular swap on s13,s14. It all comes down to preference and what you are building the motor for.:) I should have a parts list done by next week. I will then let you guys know what I am selling or keeping..

Here are some close shots of my new turbo 20g tdo6.
