I was told all about one being built...and then today I'm wrapping up my drive and another one stops to offer a run...? i smiled and said no thanks.

Im not big on drag racing but I will ride out east with anyone- it's all love. But these Talons seem to be to up to something :thinking: I know we have a few local mitsu guys on the site. Care to let us in on the secret? :confused:

This morning's drive btw, was awesome :bowdown: restrained but still very awesome. One day I will buy a racelogic box and record it :shiftdrive:

Well i have yet to see a 4g63 put down 700 hp to the wheels on a stock bottom end:crazy: but then again anything is possible. I think GODZILLA in STOCK:bowdown: form would kick you know what all day every day, these guys are looking to make a name for themselves buy racing GODZILLA that's all, i guess they don't know why the GTR is called that....... that mother is a BEAST of a car period!

on behalf of the 4G63 family... i apologize... lol... i am one to believe that the 2JZ was one of the strongest platforms to come out of japan... handling over 1000hp with stock internals is something any car enthusiast should respect... besides my brother... i wouldnt know wut else is goin on with the rest of the mits. crew... would of bin nice to go out there though... i dont talk smack about other peoples car... i respect everything from the k20 to the VQ series to muscle 350 blocks and up... I dont race people i know i can beat... in fact, i dont go looking for races at all... most guys see me on the highway and they see it as an opportunity to find out how there car stacks up against an Evo... Funny thing is... i've already heard talk on the street about those honda guys saying they took me down on the highway... i was like wut?!? at some point there gona wake up the 4g at full boost... ;)

well because of the GLORIOUS drag strip that we have down here... i have never gotten to run my car to the quater mile... :mad: but i did however get some 1/8 mile run times... my best to date 8.4..... with the COBB tune... could of bin a lil lower if i had a better reaction time...:hs: but cant do much do to the factory set 4000rpm launch control... :dunno:

I don't think reaction time actually affects the ET you get on your time slip but I could be wrong. It certainly affects the outcome of a race though. :rofl:

I think the ET clock starts when you break the beam, not when the light goes green but if anyone knows differently please correct me.

Hey, at least we have a drag strip. Glass half full and all that. When it comes back I am sure it will be full quarter again, which I am definitely looking forward to.

Yeh tekk, that was low boost no nitrous.. Maybe this time around i will crank it up a bit and run a shot. who knows maybe 10's with the nitrous and some good tires... Im trying to get the urge to race again. Then again bike tires are getting pricey, at 190.00 a piece.

yep yep... that was me... my launch killed... when i got off the line it died down to about 1500-2000rpm... then i had to wait for it to build back up again... what can i say... theres not much i can do with that launch control:dunno:... however... sweet race it was... n congrats on the win...:)

tekk your cr is beautiful and exotic..but the down fall is your ride is almost 2 tons..which would mean that you'd need every bit of that 400+ HP to push it along along with fuel management....now you have a talon..TSX mind you all wheell drive aswell which are great if not better than any other car at lauch's if launched right...but so is your..but something about having shifter paddles like that of the PS3's L2 and R3 paddles that makes it undriver worthy..not F1 cars are different those RPM's can't control it with out syncronized tranny's..and those talons again are all wheel drive. sti's even imprezas want war. bro..my money goes on the white talon....again your car is beautiful but I've seen an sti leavea gallardo standing still at 80 lol so its up to you....but my money is on the Mitsu's

Wow subies huh. I guess when i made 300 hp and 407 tq i had a subie engine in my supra....lol. AWD is a very good platform but mickey thompson E/T streets would put that to rest...lol. I have seen awd's launch against rwd with slicks, the awd's got walked, and as for a subaru running a gallardo, subie has to be hooked up of course but most people with a gallardo wound leave that car stock, now put a twin turbo gallardo on pump gas against that same subie an check the results...lol. I used to own 2 talons one fwd turbo and one awd turbo both had bpu, my supra was still my fave. All in all rwd power for me. AWD trannys need to be built to handle that tq, as were rwd trannys usually can take it.:bigthumb:

now this is what im talkin bout. like i said before whos gonna scratch? now like i said before i respect anything fast honda mitsu mazda peugot i dont really care. but i will say to you dsm diehards the 4g63 is a great motor. one of the most solid four cylinders made. but.......... the heads flow like shit. take a 2.0 4g63 how much boost do you have to put to it to make 400whp? 20? 25? 35psi? now you take the little 1.3 rotary will make 400 to the wheels at 16psi. the best flowing factory 4 cylinder head on earth right now is the s2000. im sorry i respect the 4g63 and all but it needs too much boost. you can get 400 at the wheels with a b16 at 25psi and that with 600cc's less displacement. you do the math. now for the awd argument blah blah fuckin blah. how many 7 second awd's are out there? did you miss the video of the viper on DOT approved street tires?????? c'mon people.. yeah an awd launches good. but a rwd with traction will beat it every time i got a set of street slicks thats all i need. oh yeah ask those guys with the 9sec talons how many output shafts the have sheered or cv joints and axels they have broken..... sorry for being so long with this but i couldn't help it. one last thing i need to say is whoever wants to run street rx7 i say good luck but i wanna be there to watch. im not supporting him cuz im a rx7 owner but because i have some common sense. bring it people. he is accepting all challenges so who has the nuttz to step up. talk is cheap.........

vizuki, no doubt that there will be very fast cars here drag racing. i respect all cars, regardless of their time on the 1/4 mile, none of the cars i own are built for drag racing. having said that, with man like streetrx here and man like trix r 4 kidz gearing up.. and a lot of talk on the streets from the talon crew... it should get interesting :cool:

btw - different subject but at isles we were talking about shooting a calendar at some point. would be good to get some photo shots of some "rivals" together ... be it within camp, between camps, within country, between countries, etc :cool:

And that being said, i have seen streetrx7 run at englishtown race track in new jersey (that is an NHRA approved track), and technically that car should have a roll cage in it for the time it does. That rx crosses the trap with full brakes applied so he does'nt get kicked off the track or banned. The car looks too good to have a roll cage in it, and would be uncomfortable to drive for his height...lol. The car is a beast as redbull can tell anyone..., so for the talons that want to run him.......good luck buddy and please video tape it for those of us off island.

Well I have never seen a 3000GT do 7sec.. in all the yrs I been in NJ.. E-town or ATCO or Budd creek or boston speedway or island drag way ... lol get my drift... plus it would cost at least 30 to 40 grand just in the build not including your car... 2jz block goes for about $15,000 built complete meaning head an block.. NO turbo,manifold,ECU,exhaust intercooler,wastegate..etc.. Not including the car...

ok this topic is getting a bit on the straight line drag ride...if you all do rememeber the first car on street radials was a brown talon which did 9's..low 9's mind you then it just wen town fro mthere..thats right first car on street radials not forist talon...second the talk here seems to be talking bout a straight lione race and personally i don't see why TEKK isn't getting into this seeing as he is an AWD follower so its either take the bitch back or hide...I'm assuming your doing the lader.....third every awd car on here will out handle any car you people have on here..and yes thet includes your beautiful blue rx7 bro..get to much wheel spin and you better be knowing how to drift.....I know this might be stupid but I've actually tried toget my car t oslide around turns and it doesn't want to and it piss's me off cause all four tires are just turning and gripping...so I think we need to look into the whole package...and by the way my subby...the evo, talons will murder the g35 in handling....the gtr will probably be with us still the straights but sorry that rear wheel drive car will get left behind I'm sorry.

oh come on man i cant believe you just said that. first off the gtr will outhandle pretty much any car on island. that being siad i respect the evos i have driven a evo9 and a wrx sti. sorry the subie cant handle the evo i know this not from a book or a magazine but because i have driven both....HARD! now the evo8 was by far the best handling car in its price range competing with porsche 911's and other 100grand+ exotics. the evo 8 topped out at .96g on the skidpad. now for the ignorance on your part. in 1993 the mazda rx7 R1 pulled .96g on the skidpad that was over 10 years before the evo. and keep in mind that was stock. car and driver in 93 wrote the rx7 was the BEST handling car they have ever tested......... does that not count for something. that being said streetrx7 and my own car are not stock not even close so if it pulled.96g stock what will it do now. do some research before you talk. the rx will handle with any evo out there on the road right now. talons aren't even in the same class as the evo so im not even gonna comment on them. by the way what does your car do? give me a month or so and we can put all this mouth and typing to rest and actually find out. i think it will be fun. the best handling stock car on island right now i would say is the lotus elise. but as i said before not too many people on here have stock suspensions. so it will be a fun test. but until then hit your books alil more. and just so you know there were many and i do say MANY rwd cars running faster than a 9 on DOT approved tires long long before your brown talon.

ok rally doesn't even count in this coversation. and lateral g's=road holding capabilty.which would equal handling. and the lotus is 2000lbs with 188hp same engine as the late model celica. so a 300hp rx7 has essentially the same power to weight ratio. the big difference is the weight split. the rx7 is one of the few cars in history to have 50:50 weight ratio. given a little suspension work the rx will pull in excess of 1g. which is impressive handling in anyones book.

oh come on man i cant believe you just said that. first off the gtr will outhandle pretty much any car on island. that being siad i respect the evos i have driven a evo9 and a wrx sti. sorry the subie cant handle the evo i know this not from a book or a magazine but because i have driven both....HARD! now the evo8 was by far the best handling car in its price range competing with porsche 911's and other 100grand+ exotics. the evo 8 topped out at .96g on the skidpad. now for the ignorance on your part. in 1993 the mazda rx7 R1 pulled .96g on the skidpad that was over 10 years before the evo. and keep in mind that was stock. car and driver in 93 wrote the rx7 was the BEST handling car they have ever tested......... does that not count for something. that being said streetrx7 and my own car are not stock not even close so if it pulled.96g stock what will it do now. do some research before you talk. the rx will handle with any evo out there on the road right now. talons aren't even in the same class as the evo so im not even gonna comment on them. by the way what does your car do? give me a month or so and we can put all this mouth and typing to rest and actually find out. i think it will be fun. the best handling stock car on island right now i would say is the lotus elise. but as i said before not too many people on here have stock suspensions. so it will be a fun test. but until then hit your books alil more. and just so you know there were many and i do say MANY rwd cars running faster than a 9 on DOT approved tires long long before your brown talon.

Tein doesn't even come close to lotus or there probably right there...well not because I'm a subbie guy but There are more rally championships in subbies than in mitsu's both companies have well amounts of moneys and if its because the drivers then well mitsu's have crappy drivers great cars subbies the opposite.

i consider stock what the car comes with from the factory. and noone will dispute that subaru makes a great rally car. i once read an article comparing the evo and the STI they said the evo was a rally car in tarmac trim whereas the STI was in gravel trim. i wont discredit the subaru or the evo or anything else. im just stating the facts not my opinion. subaru evo rx7 gtr i will even throw in the 3000gt for 92vr4 all are great cars with thier own individual strengths and weaknesses. i bet your car gets twice the miles to the gallon than mine does. but straightline or corners im still faster awd or not. the difference is you will be comfortable and have a bit more money in your pocket. whereas i have to watch every little bump in the road like its a moon crater and go over speed bumps really really slow. the same gravel road you would have a blast on i wouldnt dare drive my car down. what it all boils down to is what you love and what you are willing to sacrifice to get it period.
