Car Meets-n-Highway Run

Wus sup StreetSeen. My names Alex and i'm the current owner of the Silver EVO MR. I just saw the pics that was taken on Sunday, October 5th and i wondered if it could be possible to set up a meet at that same location. I don't know if there's any other threads about this... (and if there is forgive me) but i think it would be awesome to have cars of different makes n models displayed to the public... I mean, who said u had to wait for a Car Show for these type of events to take place. I know people have jobs and its going to be hard to get something done around everyone's schedule but I'm sure with some planning, and a little time a good date could be set.
Haha... I must say... I saw the rx7, r35 n dan's evo and i was like.... What!?!... Where the hell was I?:eek4:
I travel on n off island from time to time. So I'm not acquainted with many, I mean, honestly... I don't even know anyone on this site:sad:... I just thought it would be a good way to meet fellow car enthusiasts because not much events down here are geared towards that.

Highway Runs... To elaborate more on that... It's not "Run" as in speeding or racing. I simply meant after each meet, all Imports, (or domestic) vehicles would have a chance to stretch out there legs. I cant control the decisions people make while driving there vehicle, so everyone is responsible for there own actions, safety and the safety of other personnel with them... Plain and simple... Don't do anything stupid and a good time should be had... Once the highway run is over, (wherever the ending point is determined) so would be the meet.

This is an entirely new idea that i wanted to throw out... Please let me know what you think... give me some feedback... whether it be good or bad... I want to know the ups and downs of having an event like this... Thanx...

Oh on to the subject... Its a good idea. Sounds like what any motorsport club will do. On Fort Hood, my mustang club, the "Running Stangs" will meet up every Saturday at 1:00 over at a bar called Omalys.... There we'd show off our cars to the public, sit and chat for a while, and discuss upcoming track events, new car parts, discounts, and grudge races. After that we all convoy around the city for about half hour, to and hour and meet up at a local resturant for some lunch. Later on that night if there is a race going on, we would hit up the race track.... Here's what a typical Saturday looked like for me.... Unfortunately being that we are all deployed so nobody shows up now but its always a blast.

Once at the meet, we all line up, and pop our hoods and get to gossiping, in full view of the public.

Sometimes will have a turn out of about 30 to 40 mustangs. Some that just see us off the road and come in to join us.

'DomesticChiney' lol... how'd u guess... Army National Guard to be exact.... and yes thats exactly what i have in mind... Come together, talk about our rides, wut could happen if you do this or that.... wut did happen when you did this and that, how jacked up the streetseen is on st.croix... and show to the public that were not just individuals that they saw that 'one' time on the highway going over 100...(kmh ofcoarse):thumbsup: but rather show them that we are organized. A well constructed and put together team with alot of sense and love for our vehicles.
I mean... I dont know about you guys... but i remember when i was younger... driving past that point by Kentucky in sunny isles, i would always look out the window to get a glimpse of what import/domestic car would be parked up at the spot... If there wasn't any, i'd nod my head and be like.... "awwww man"... but when there was... i always got that feeling that there was some type of streetscene on the island... as small as it may be... i knew it was there... Growing up with my family, helping my cousin build his 13b turbo 1st gen and his brothers b16a turbo crx... my first ride in a turbocharger car, (turbo 1st gen, completely stripped), how my cousin dared me to keep my hand on the dashboard, while he went through the gears in seconds at 15psi... hearing the sound of vtech intermixed with the spooling of turbo and then the unforgiving sound of the Blow-off valve... which to some people is just noise... but to me yelled a very clear message... "get the fu*k out the way bytch, im comin through"... all these things rather it be visual or experiencing events led me to what i have today... So why not build on what little we have? Why sould we have to wait for jacked up events to come together, hangout and share information? Bring what u have to the scene... to the streets where they were meant to be... I know i didnt buy an EVO to watch it sit in my garage... Haha... I kinda went overboard on this entry... but just wanted to stress out how i felt about the situation...

ok so ive posted the latest chapter of the gt-r story.

this very idea is what this site- this community- is about. this is something ive wanted to do for some time. it just needs to be done.

the first question is, what would it take to bring people out?

ive asked about this before and was told that prizes need to be given - basically saying people won't come out for fun. do you guys think that's true? what would it take to bring people out? would people come out, just to meet? of course we would, but what about others? would really love to have a good turnout. i would not want it limited to certain crews...certain cars..etc.

as far as places, i thought isles was good... but also the parking lot west, next to the playground. maybe there could be a cruise from one lot to the other?

i know in our club.... We came out for the social life, the fun, to drink a few beers, get something to eat, show off our cars, talk about the latest discounts at the local performance shop. Etc Etc. Also people not in the club would start to take notice. Driving down the road you see a bunch of nice looking parked cars with their hoods up and music playing and it looks like everyone's having a good time. It brings attention. And then when we go to race track we bring the club along with the club's name all over our cars. T-Shirts worn all sexy by females, etc etc. BBQ, Beer, and Racing!

We had this one Mustang in our group. Looks completely stock until you heard him turn that damn thing on! Ran 10.290 one time and was told he couldn't run anymore because he didn't have the proper saftey equipment. The next run he staged, started off and then stopped to get the clock running... Then he gunned it down the track. He ran a 21 sec 1/4 mile at 138mph!!!! lol. The track then banned him but we were well known to have that car as our sleeper!

That's an awesome idea for a cruise Tekk... from one kentucky to the next... lol... All thats needed is to agree on a comfortable date that would suit most individuals on here... And as for the give-aways.... they got wendy's and kentucky right next door... if there ass feelin a lil needy... wendy's kid meal got loads of prizes that they can play with all day... Personally, i think its BullShyt that someone would ask for some type of reward just to come out and have a good time with other people who share the same passion for there cars... If thats the case, then they shouldn't have the right to call themselves enthusiasts and it because of them that the scene never builds up... All I can promise to do is spread the word out... I work at Hovensa, so ofcoarse.... i know people... who know people... who know people... lol... If you want i could even make flyers and pinch them to the windsheilds in the parking lot... (or is dat a lil to overboard)...:thinking: hmmm... Its really not that hard to get this thing going... put a date up to be debated on... once that has settled... decide on a "Roll-Out" time for when the cruise will commence... I'd go for a Saturday... My reason being that we could draw a much larger crowd. People driving by (that didnt know about the event) would be more likely stop by and check things out... Sunday could be good as well, but many people are only goin to see the fact that they have to work (or go school) the following day and might lose some interest. Im going to start working on a flyer to put out there. I'll post a pic of it on here before i do see what u guys think about...

What time of day you guys wanna do it?

The thing is... if we do it in the morning there are fewer people on the road... and easier parking etc. But if we do it when there are more people, we get more attention.

In all it might be better to be seen at first so people can be aware we're out there and join us. Then when we get a good crows we can pick a time when there are fewer people on the road.

If my work schedule goes according to plan, that saturday would be my first midnight to 8am shift... so i dont see any problems on my side... exactly how early to meet... i wouldnt know... its going to take me atleast 2.5-3 hours of car time (washing, vaccuming, getting those little spots) before i drive my car out there. I think 3:00-3:30 would be a good time to start the meet... ( temperatures would be starting to drop, still got that mid afternoon traffic, and it'll be good for picture taking). Also, we got to think about wut time of the day we would like to set out on the cruise... late afternoon (sunset) evening time, or at night... whichever one works with me, but if good pictures are to be taken of the cruise... then the obvious choice would be around sunset... but if thats the case then the initial meet would only last about 3 hours... so do we roll out at night?.... or do we meet earlier?...
Once again... this is just an option to be debated on... the more feedback the better...

3-3:30 easily becomes 5 which easily becomes dark, and i would advise against a night meet. pictures wouldnt be as good... driving wouldnt be as safe.. wouldnt be seen as well. too many negatives to that to justify it imo.

not sure where you work but if hovensa has major shift times it doesnt make sense to run through two of them. that would severely limit who can attend.

if we really do sat... sunny isles and the roads can be crowded.
my suggestion would be to start earlier - like 10am.

but then there's also lunch... not sure how we'd want to handle that.

After that, I think we should do a run down on the highway streetseen deep. Then after we can go dorch and catch the scene down there. Maybe even take some pictures then go to the f'sted parking lot or go sandbar and get some grub. Again, this is imo.

Thats true. I know for sundays 12 wouldnt have that much traffic on the road. Maybe another event can be on a sunday but the monday is a holiday. That would be a tight lime right thurr!!!!

yeah I still can't get the pics of my rx7 to come up on here. one of the camaros is a parts car, would take way too much to restore but it is an original 327 with a powerglide and factory air engine and drivetrain are good. one is an original SS396 in the process of a full restoration. the last one most people on here will remember the original homegrown. the vette is beautiful but hasn't seen the road in over a year. soon to the yard will be an all original 71 LT1 vette. like I said before, my pops is a chevrolet diehard. its in the blood.

Well as luck would have it... i reach home at 4pm yesterday from working a 16... and as i finish taking a shower... POOF... power went out AGAIN!!!!... i was not surprised... but it did keep me from finishing the flyer... didnt get any power till 530pm today, when i called my dad to find out... crossing my fingers it can stay on this time... if it does... that'll be the first thing im gona do when i get out of here at 12.

Hey Tekk.... I got someone who can photoshop a flyer for you..... If you want I can have em done by Thursday. She is the one that did my signature pic. If you want something like that I can have it done. Just everyone post up some pics of your cars and everything. Nice one! You know what we used to do for advertising. As we would go to our local night clubs and parties, we'd hand out fliers and post it up on the windows of any hot car we'd see in the parking lot. It works! We saw fresh new faces evey weekend!

Oh and I like that graphics background with the Supra! Lookin real nice.
